Frequently Asked Questions
What is Forever Jewelry (also known as Permanent Jewelry)?
Alapage Forever Jewelry is a unique way to wear your jewelry without a clasp. These chains (most often bracelets) are custom-fitted and micro-welded for a seamless look.
Many people get permanent jewelry as a way to pay tribute to meaningful milestones in their life or the special bonds they share with loved ones…BFF’s, sisters, mother-daughter, bridal party etc… Think of it as a modern day friendship bracelet.
Though these pieces are made to last forever, they can be removed with a pair of household scissors or wire-cutters and can be re-welded at Alapage for FREE if they were originally purchased at Alapage and have been cut on the jump ring, NOT on the chain. We can also cut the item off for you.
Where can I get this done?
At our Alapage Boutique! We are located at 25 South River Road, #301, Bedford, NH. We are in the same plaza as the Bedford T-Bones, behind Talbots and diagonally across from the Bedford Post Office.
Do I need to make an appointment?
We do not require an appointment right now. As our business grows, we may add appointment times. However, if you are a group of 3 or more, we suggest making an appointment to guarantee you're able to get your permanent jewelry and not have to wait too long. Please call us at 603-622-0550 to schedule a time.
Does it hurt?
Not at all! It’s a simple zap of light, you won’t feel a thing. The whole process usually takes about 20 minutes per item.
What do I do if the chain breaks or stretches?
We choose delicate chains for their minimalist appearance and ease for everyday wear. Though they are considered permanent in that you cannot take them off, they are still delicate pieces of jewelry that can break with wear. Should your Alapage Forever Jewelry item get caught on something and break or stretch, we will do our best to repair it for you for FREE. Please note, Alapage is not liable for lost chains. Keep the item in a safe place and book a Forever Jewelry Adjustment Appointment or visit us during our walk-in hours. Again, we cannot guarantee that we can fix all breaks in a chain, but we will do our best to help you out.
Can I RETURN my Forever Jewelry?
Once the item is cut to your size, the jewelry piece is a FINAL SALE.
Will you weld anklets or necklaces?
Yes, we do offer anklets and necklaces up to 18” in length, however, please note anklets and necklaces are more likely to get snagged and stretch or break. These are offered in all of our chains. Wear at your own risk, Alapage is not liable for lost or broken chains.
Will this give me trouble going through airport security?
No…the good news is TSA doesn’t ask you to remove fine jewelry when going through security. Your permanent jewelry will travel with you world-wide!
What if I need to remove the bracelet? Can I have it welded on again later?
Yes, if you need to remove your bracelet for any reason simply cut it off at the jump ring with scissors or wire cutters. To remove, cut the ring that holds the chain together. We can also do the cut for you! Re-welds for items purchased at Alapage are FREE as long as they are cut at the correct place.
Can I buy Permanent Jewelry as a gift?
Yes, simply purchase a gift card for the amount you would like to cover! We recommend at least $45.
Is there anyone who shouldn’t undergo the permanent jewelry process?
Yes, if you have a pacemaker you should not undergo the welding procedure. Please consult with your doctor prior to having this done if you have any concerns.
Do you host private events?
Not yet, but we can accommodate a group of 3 or more when planned in advance! Give us a call at 603-622-0550
What if I need to have surgery, an x-ray or an MRI?
Consult your doctor first to see if you will be required to remove your permanent jewelry during your surgery, x-ray or MRI. If they do require that it be removed, make sure to cut your Alapage Forever Jewelry item at the jump ring, store it safely, and bring it back to Alapage for a FREE re-weld! Or, we can cut if for you.
Can I get permanent jewelry for my child?
Anyone under 14 must have a parent or guardian present and sign our Agreement Form in person. Children must be at least 10 years old and be able to sit completely still during the process.
